About the tour

A large steel structure elevated at 20 metres above the forest floor with the option of climbing the tower to an elevation of 47 metres above the ground. This elevation provides visitors with expansive and magnificent views over a beautiful local lake and out to the Tasman Sea. During clear weather stunning views of the snowcapped Southern Alps are also on show.

This is a self-guided experience with detailed interpretation panels along the way explaining the diverse flora and fauna you will encounter during your visit into the canopy of this Podocarp Forest.

The walk is designed for people with any level of mobility allowing access for young and old, including wheelchairs. The staff ensure visitors with mobility issues are well taken care of, escorting them to the structure in a complimentary golf cart which seats up to 5 people at a time. This attraction has been designed as a short stop for travellers during the journey between the Glaciers and the main towns of Hokitika and Greymouth. The average time taken to enjoy this attraction is 45 – 90 minutes (90 mins including dining at the café)
