Getting to Franz Josef
Franz Josef is easily accessible via daily buses from Queenstown (approximately 8 hours). From Greymouth, daily buses take about 3 hours and 34 minutes, connecting perfectly with the TranzAlpine train. However, please note that the bus services from Queenstown and Greymouth do not connect the same day, so overnight accommodation in either Fox Glacier or Franz Josef is necessary for both northbound and southbound travellers.
